Pope Francis' new Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) is a helpful insight on family life. In it the Holy Father adresses family challenges, marriage and re-marriage, the value of extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins), and so much more. Take some time to read it and see how close Pope Francis really is to you and your family.
Pope emeritus Benedict XVI offered a rich reflection on the Holy Famly of Nazareth in his General Audience of December 28, 2011. He recognized the family as the domestic church and called for families to pray together. Our faith is rooted in prayer and he knew (and so do we) that the family that prays together stays together.
Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and divison; may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing. Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and it's beauty in God's plan.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph Graciously hear our prayer. Amen
Pope saint John Paul II reminds us to be not afraid and to hold on to hope. Teaching us that through marriage the human person becomes a gift in the freedom of love; and that beauty and hope lies in the daily sacrifice of marital love. Let's hold on to this hope and always remember that each person is unique and unrepeatable, someone chosen by love for love.
